Works For Me Wednesday – Pet Fish
So, as many of you know, the end of August we had to give away our kitty Mae because of allergies. And then the beginning of November we had to give away our yellow lab June because we didn’t have enough time to give her the attention and exercise she needed.
For Christmas I bought Danny a 10 gallon aquarium with all the accessories - except the fish. (How do you wrap up fish and put them under the tree?) Then this last Saturday we went to WalMart and bought three fish (all varieties of goldfish) and named them Hammy, B.B. Scales, and James Finnegan. Sunday after church B.B. Scales, Pookie and G’s fish, passed away. I had to scoop out his little body and save it because WalMart has a 90-day guarantee. On Monday, Danny took Pookie and G back to WalMart to exchange B.B. Scales for another fish. They picked out a fish that looks very similar to Hammy and named him Ricky. We couldn’t convince them to pick another name. We also didn’t tell them that that’s Grandpa’s name.
Anyways, I realized after lunch when all three kids were napping and I decided to lay down for a quick nap, I’m glad I don’t have to walk the fish. And there’s no guilt in not exercising them. I get to just enjoy them swimming around all relaxing-like. Pet fish are inexpensive compared to puppies and kittens, don’t take up a lot of space, don’t need to be exercised, won’t piddle on your new carpet, and don’t meow or bark in the night. Pet fish work for me!

I might have finally convinced the wife that having a dog is a bad idea if you have neither the time nor the land to treat them properly. The children, however, are single minded in their determination to get another puppy. Fish may be a viable alternative, especially if the fish look like sharks.
it sounds good to me too. I'm glad to hear they're easy because Christian sure wants one for his birthday.
It's also a lot easier to handle pet fish when they die. (just a thought) Also, they're even allowed in dorms! (the only pets that are)
