Crawling, gagging, squishing, and moving

Yesterday Tater started army crawling and Squdge figured out how to crawl forward.  He's been crawling backward for about a week.  Now we don't need to look for one of those reverse beeping things to stick to him.

None of the older four children crawled at 8 months.  They were 10-13 months old when they learned.

Today Squdge figured out how to sit.  finally.  The older four learned to sit around 7-8 months as well.  Tater doesn't sit yet.  It's hard not to compare them to each other.

I'm dizzy often.  I gag when brushing my teeth.  I haven't thrown up yet.  Danny did have to pull the van over on the way home from the beach Saturday so I could dry-heave and drool all over the side of the road.  I don't generally throw up when I'm expecting.  I just feel like it.  This time though, I'm pretty dizzy.

Something in my house smells baaaad.  Danny has changed bums and outfits of the three in diapers and we finally figured Hammy has evil gas.  You know what, we are down to about 510 diapers a month.  Pretty good eh?  We've had a handful of good toileting experiences with the Hammy this week.  If I wasn't so fatigued and nauseas I think things would be going faster.

My stomach makes a squish sound when I poke it in the place where my abdomen is still separated.  I think it's rather entertaining.  But Danny doesn't.

I had my first OB appointment today in a beautiful town over an hour away.  I was 2 minutes late.

After realizing my insurance company did not mail them the referral letter and actually mailed it to my previous OB, trying to convince them that I truly am covered, getting the referral worked out with the proper OB's name, requesting the insurance company to mail me and the doc a new one, offering to pay cash for the visit so they'd just tell me if there was ONE heartbeat, they still sent me on my way

So my first OB appointment will not be until May 6.  Hopefully then, someone can tell me how far along I really am.  My guess is 8 weeks right now.

We got a house.  No, we did not buy a house.  We got a new house assigned to us on base.  A new house!  On May 12, we will get the keys to move in.  I am through the roof with excitement.  One thing on my list for the new house is a dehumidifier.  I'd like to say good-bye to all the mold problems and mold-related illness we've endured this past year.

That's it for me.

OB appointment update

My appointment with the OB was great. My doctor is absolutely the BEST doctor in the Frozen North. If you find yourself living in the Frozen North and in need of an OB, I will give you his name.

My doctor wheeled in the ultrasound machine when he came in and asked me how I was doing. I admitted to him my fears of losing another baby. He reassured me that these fears are to be expected but that I'm not at any increased risk to miscarry over any other twin pregnancy or even singleton pregnancy at this point. I also asked him about the pain I have radiating from hip to hip. The pains are totally normal "growing pains" and even common among singleton pregnancies after a woman has had a few pregnancies due to ligaments stretching out. But he said I might be experiencing them earlier since there are twins.

The ultrasound showed two healthy babies. The bigger baby measures 11 weeks and 2 days and was VERY active wiggling and kicking about and had a good strong heartbeat. The smaller baby measures 11 weeks and 1 day and also had a strong heartbeat and looked perfectly fine. The doctor gave me an official due date of September 22. It seems so very far away. So I guess instead of 11 1/2 weeks, I'm just 11 weeks 1 day.

I scheduled my next appointment for two weeks from today. My doctor said he'll do another ultrasound at that appointment. :)

Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement and your prayers. If you only knew how much I truly appreciate it. Thank you.

P.S. I'm not throwing up, by the way. I do have a constant queasiness, but I force the food anyway. lol So I also feel like I do after a large Thanksgiving meal many times throughout the day. I'm sure I'll hit my second trimester and pack on a sudden twenty pounds. haha

Dear Journal, oh the nausea!

Dear Journal,
I apologize that you will have to wait at least another day for the next installment of the triplets story. Today my nausea and fatigue are out of control fighting for my attention. I am so queasy that I have to eat a little something about every 30 minutes to keep it at bay. I don't feel like eating anything, but I know I will regret it with even more intense nausea and vomiting if I do not.

Now I head to the kitchen to have a bite of apple. I hopefully will be back soon to type a little more.

What the heck am I going to do with triplets?!

Dear Journal,

Since finding out I am pregnant with triplets I have been on a high, kind of in shock, and very much giddy and giggly about it.

Today I took Gabbers, Bun, and Ham downtown with me to pick up a joint food storage order and to go to Denny's for their free Grand Slam breakfast. I wanted to leave the house early so we could go to Housing Maintenance on base first and get our free monthly furnace filter and replace part of a light fixture. Ham was sleeping in late because he's had a cold for a couple days. Gabbers and Bun were playing Starfall. I was sitting in the middle of my messy living room staring at the floor. But that part isn't important. =P

Halfway to my friend's house (who I was following to pick up the order), reality hit and I started bawling.
What am I doing? I don't know how to have triplets. What am I going to do with triplets? How could I take triplets out to run errands like this along with at least three other children?
I turned up the music so Gabbers wouldn't hear me sobbing like a loon. Bun had fallen asleep as soon as we left the gate. Ham was staring off in a phlegm-filled stupor. I called my mom and blubbered to her.
I don't know why people think I can do this. I don't know why Heavenly Father thinks I can do this. I don't even know how to prepare for this. I'm not a patient mom at all!
Mom reassured me with comforts of the church members will help us wherever we are. Whether we are here in the Frozen North or near family in Utah or on to our new base wherever that may be- I will have lots of help. And I will need to accept it.

Famous last words

I actually said to the ER doctor before my ultrasound,

"The transition from three to four wasn't hard. I don't know that I'll really notice a difference having five kids."

Two truths and a lie

Pop-tarts are the epitome of gross shelf-stable food.

It would be better for all parties involved if I did not babysit while pregnant.

I will tell your four year old that they are being rude and expect an apology if they exclaim loudly in regards to my nicely prepared food, "That's gross! I don't like that."

Which is the lie?

Answer: The last one. But it was a trick question. The part where it says "I will tell" should actually say, "I will yell at". Yeah, see truth number two. It would be better for all parties involved if I did not babysit while pregnant.

baking the nausea away

Today, all day long, I fought little waves of nausea- 20 to 30 second waves (some longer). I found that the smell of baking bread soothed my stomach. Who'd a thunk it? I baked 5 large loaves. Then I made a bunch of bread kits. It turns out the smell of bread toasting was also soothing. I had about 4 pieces of toast today. =P I couldn't let those four pieces of toast go to waste; although, it's not very frugal to toast just one at a time to continue the soothing smell.

Random Pic

Or not so random?
Pretend that bun is more like the size of an apple seed. Ahh that looks good. Who puts a frosted cinnamon roll on a plate in the oven anyway? Come to think of it, who has an oven that sparkly too? Carol Brady? I need Alice to move in with me. Maybe that's her secret to sparkling ovens.

No crunching for comments.

Due to technical difficulties, "crunching for comments" will be added back to my blog in September. ;) But your comments are always welcome. Well, except that one lady that left that one comment that one time. Her comments aren't welcome.
