I am grateful for family traditions. Like, they're a really big deal for me. The togetherness, the routine, I just LOVE family traditions. I enjoy learning about other families' traditions too.
Long ago, about 2 years before children, we got together with some distant cousins for their Fast Sunday tradition of game night and homemade donuts. We loved the idea of creating our own family tradition for Fast Sundays.
On the first Sunday of each month, we make air-popped popcorn. Sometimes it's Mom's carmel corn, sometimes Danny's grandma's butter glaze recipe, sometimes it's the Jello recipe we tried when his sister Liz stayed with us one summer. We very much enjoy the savory varieties as well. There have also been a few times that we were lazy and just went with microwave popcorn.
A family favorite that we discovered during this year of plant-based eating:
coconut oil (unflavored)
nutritional yeast
garlic powder
and a little salt and pepper
Tonight we are going to try a new variation. It's probably not vegan. It has sugar and food dye. But so has most of last week. :P
White almond bark drizzled popcorn with M&Ms. I know a certain hubby of mine will be excited when he gets up from his nap. :)
