Thisaway to a man's heart ----->

In precisely 8 days it will be Valentine's Day.  This is a very easy cookie he won't soon forget.  Nothing blinds a Danny's eyes to a sinkful of dirty dishes like coming home to the smell of homebaked cookies.  And cHoCoLaTe cookies?  Bonus points.  Mom W. taught me to make cake mix cookies and gave her blessing to marry her son.  I owe her for eternity.  ;)

Chocolate Cake Mix Cookies

You need:
    1. 1 box of Chocolate Cake Mix (preferably not German chocolate)
    2. 1 egg (or 2 eggs to make them a little softer and stretch the recipe just a teeny bit more)
    3. 1 cube of butter (or 1/2 cup oil)
    4. 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)
    5. 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Preheat oven to 350° F.  In a mixing bowl combine all ingredients until well mixed.  Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.  Bake 12-15 minutes.  Let cool on sheet about three minutes before moving to cooling rack to cool completely.

    • I am stronger than a batch of delicious chocolate chocolate chip cookies.
    • I have will-power.
    • I can make these anytime I want.
    • They are super easy to make.
    • I don't need to eat the entire batch.
    • I can stop at two. or three. or four.
    • I do not need to eat half a dozen.
    • I do not feel the need to dispose of the evidence and run to the store to buy another box.
    • I am strong.
    • I have will-power.

    Homemade Oreos? Crap.

    Where's the milk?

    Cream Cheese Frosting/Filling

    You need:
    • 3 oz. cream cheese
    • 4 tbsp. butter softened (1/2 cube)
    • 2 cups powdered sugar
    • 1 tsp. vanilla

Blend together until smooth. Sandwich between two chocolate cookies. Place on plate and deliver QUICKLY!

Yes, I waited to read all of your scrolling cream cheese frosting disclaimer. You're so funny! And these look delish.

And maybe you're going to eventually tell us how to do that scrolling thing?

These sound so good that I almost jumped up to make them. But I'm sitting in my bed already (mattress on my family room floor) watching tv while reading blogs. And it is 1030 at night already. And I packed all my cake mixes. And I packed my chocolate chips and all my nuts. why oh why couldn't you wait to post this until at least tuesday?!! How will I resist going to the store to fulfill my cookie urges now?

I love homemade oreos--especially ones made without a cake mix--but lately I've been using the mix. I need to try the nuts in them! Also, I add one thing in my frosting--coconut flavoring--yum!

Lisa- I changed the scrolling part to just have the will-power mantra. Danny said it was confusing with the recipe in there.

    Laurie-

This one was confusing for me and I'm still figuring it out. I might just link to the original place I learned how to do it.

I have a test blog that is private that I try things out on before trying them out on my public blog. We'll see.

    Leslie-

Cookies are a priority. Run! Run now to the store!

Marcy- I have to agree. Cookies from scratch make for even better oreos. But lately, I've been overwhelmed with life and have had to use cake mixes versus no cookies at all. No cookies at all Valentine's week would be a tragedy. hehe

I can't wait to try it with coconut flavoring!
