Baby Ham 6 days old

Here are a couple pics of Baby Ham 6 days old in the NICU yesterday. The last thing he needs to do before coming home is learn to bottle or breastfeed and actually wake up for feedings. About 50% of his feedings he has to be tube fed because he doesn't wake. The little round velcro spots on the side of his face were to attach the shades for when he was under the lights for jaundice. The cute buggy receiving blanket is from Grandma C.

Hi Nikki,
Your baby is sooo cute. It must be hard being at home with out him. Can I ask why he is in nicu? Was he super early? His weight was excellent if he was.
I hope I'm not prying:)

He is beautiful!! These are the first pics I've seen, so I'm thrilled that you posted them. Eating on their own always seems to be the last milestone, but he'll get there. Love you all!

Boy, he looks like Ethan. What a cutie! He looks too good to be a NICU baby. :D
Praying he comes home quick!

Jane-
I'm doing really well. Feeling a bit anemic, but over all not bad. A little bit of baby blues for not being able to hold my baby 24/7. But still feeling optimistic.

Kimm-
It is definitely hard leaving the hospital without my baby. He was born at 34 weeks and 4 days gestation. And he was originally sent to the NICU for under-developed lungs. He's had photo-therapy for jaundice (very common in preemies). And babies before 35 or 36 weeks don't have much of a suck/swallow reflex. So he doesn't eat very well, tires easily during feedings and sometimes doesn't even wake for feedings. At least I know he's healthy and well and just learning what to do. :)

Connie-
Thank you! It's funny that you should say that he looks wise. Everyone used to say that about Ethan all the time as a baby.

Amy-
I think you're right. He sure looks like Ethan's baby pictures.

Dad-
I'll send you some more pics. He seemed to pose nicely for most of them. Some of the pics he looks a little drunk. ;p
