School Daze + Self-induced Torture

We started homeschooling the oldest three kids this Monday AND we are also trying to fill the freezer.  With the schooling, it's a very structured curriculum this year.  I want to poke my eye out.

You are one brave woman. The mere thought of home-school makes me one to poke my eye out.

Wow, I so can not spell today! I meant that I would WANT to poke my eye out, not one to poke my eye out. That makes no sense.

Nikki, sometimes you make me want to hide my head in shame. I think you are the awesomest woman! I'm working on putting up some freezer meal ideas on my food blog. I like doing mine one or two at a time. I make a monstrous batch one night for dinner and put away half or more in freezer meals. Especially things like pastas because they don't take any longer to cook 2 pounds of pasta and 4 pounds of hamburger instead of 1.

Hang in there! We're all rooting you on!

You really amaze me. I wanted to have 12 freezer meals ready for my baby's birth. I started weeks ago trying just to make one meal a week. I have 3 made, and only 6 weeks until my due date. I better step it up.

We started homeschooling on Monday, as well. So far, we've gone to one park day and tomorrow is a field trip. The rest of the days were declared teacher workdays, because their teacher has to prepare for their birthday party this weekend.

We started Monday as well and it was very bumpy. We took Wednesday off to refocus and pend the day in scripture and with each other. Then we came back on Thursday more relaxed and less structured, and things went much smoother.
I think I had too many ideals for how it would go that when ti didn't go my way, I got overly frustrated with them. I'd still like more structure, but learning with happy children seems to be working out for us better than less soaking in and upset kids and mommy. lol Homeschooling is definitly a challenge as you find your rhythm.

Go, Nikki!!! Rah, Rah, Rah!

Just thought you'd like to know you've got someone cheering for you! Since Wyatt is only 3, we aren't doing official homeschooling... just lots of structually unstructured learning opportunities within a pretty set routine (you know, he drives the activities, but activity time is planned). BUT... because he is a very, um, SPIRITED child, I am already thinking (aka worrying, stressing, anxious) about putting him in public school. A lady in our ward is doing the virtual school thing as well, and liking it so far. I'm excited to hear about your experiences (though I realize each public school will be different). Be sure to let me know how the kids are liking it as well!
