My Ice Cream Cake

Look what my mother-in-law taught me how to make!  It's chocolate cake with cookies n' creme ice cream layer in the middle between the layers of cake.  I practiced icing it with her instruction and help.  She decorated most of it-- but she taught me how to do the border.  All the fancy writing and curly cues I watched her do in a couple minutes tops!

I can't wait to practice ice cream cakes for the kids' birthdays this year.  Luckily we don't have friend parties this year-- and I'm pretty sure my kids will be tolerant of crooked borders and wonky words until I get better at it.

Disclaimer:  The junk in the background did not lessen the quality and awesomeness of the cake.

YUM! I've always wanted to learn how to make the ice cream cakes! I can do small and ghetto...I do mini ice cream ones. You cut cupcakes in half and put the bottom half in a kid cup, scoop some ice cream into the cup and put hte top of the cupcake back in the cup and voila! MINI ICE CREAM CAKE! but its not fancy like that! lovely...good job!
