Is this a joke? It's a terrible one!

Danny called me today from work.  This is unusual.  Usually I call him.  sometimes lots of times.  But he called ME today.  And you know what he said?

"What are you doing?" he asked me.

I said, "Something.  Why are you asking?"  (I was wasting time playing a game on the laptop and thinking about finishing Tater's story.)

"Are you sitting down?" he said.

COMPLETELY oblivious to pending doom I snarked out, "Yes of course.  You know I have this fainting thing?"

"I just picked up a short notice tasker.  I have to report in about two weeks," he said, quite seriously.

"What?"  That's when I dropped the phone and maybe I was shaking a little too.

"Wait what?  Just say it!  What does that mean?  Are you..." I started to say.

"Yes, I'm deploying," he cut me off.

"Is this a joke?  It's a terrible one!" my heart was racing, my thoughts too. And the room may have started spinning.

aaakkk!!!! *sigh* We are getting ready to jump back into the world of deployments (it's been a nice 3 yr vacation!) and I'm sooooo not looking forward to that aspect of it.

Oh no! I am trying to imagine how challenging that will be for him and you and the family- and I can't quite imagine. I am so grateful that he is serving my family but so sorry it will be at the expense of yours.

Oh man, things don't slow down, do they? I know we live far away and can't physically do much to help you, but know you're always in our prayers and we really are so grateful to Danny for his service, and to you for helping him go. Good luck!

I just had a BRILLIANT IDEA! But becuse it's 4:22 a.m. here and only 3:22 a.m. there I didn't think you'd want me to call you--so call me later when I'm awake, about 10 a.m. my tme--if I'm not awake yet by then I should be so that will be good. I've already tried 12 times to leave this message and so far it hasn't let me, so I'll try a few more times!

Don't they know you are having a baby!? Lots of love for you Nikki! We are into deployment #4, only with half as many children. You are an amazing woman, you can do it!
