Coming to you live from my little corner of the hospital

I was readmitted to the hospital about 24 hours from being released. My contractions were 2 1/2 minutes apart and my local doctor was not pleased that they released me to begin with.

I did receive steroid shots for the babies' lungs last Monday and Tuesday.

The nurses and doctor have commented on the obvious growth of my belly just over the last few days.

I feel like I'm starving. So I've been ordering an extra banana or crackers with meals and squirreling them away into a drawer for the middle of the night when they think I don't need to be eating. Today Danny brought me some yogurt and Ensures for my stash. Unfortunately the yogurt has to be refrigerated-- which means I have to ask for it. Most of the nurses are very nice. A couple seem inconvenienced when I say things like, "I need to use the bathroom. Can you unplug all these monitors?"

I miss the orange sherbet from the Frozen North Hospital. However, they have the best vegetables here, and I swear their pie crust is homemade. :)

I'm 33 weeks tomorrow. The goal is to make it to 34 weeks. Thank you for all your prayers and kind thoughts.

I stayed in the hospital for several weeks. My husband asked the nurses where the closest fridge was and he stashed stuff for me. The nurses were always willing to grab something for me, and they didn't mind letting my hubby have free reign over the nursing station... Ask your doctor if you can speak with the staff nutritionist. That will usually open up other eating options including more food, more choices, and additional snacks... good luck!

Oh, you hang in there, Mama! Almost done! You just cook those little sweeties as long as you can. I'm glad you got the steroid shot. Good plan on the stashing of snacks. I did the same thing. Are you sleeping okay? My doc let me have Ambien, especially when I was in the hospital and had trouble relaxing with all the noise around me. Never hurts to ask. Or if they won't give you that, ask if you can have a MagGel. It's an over the counter magnesium that will relax you and keep those contractions at bay, too. And it gives a lovely little sleep without the AMbien hangover.

Drink up those fluids, no matter how many times the nurse has to come and pull you off the monitor. You are doing such a great job of keeping those little babies safe and growing. Hang in there!

You're doing such a great job of keeping those babies where they need to be. I too hope you can keep them in longer, but sometimes they just want to come. From your previous posts it looks like you seem to go early anyway. Some woment just do that. My younger sister did and she did just fine. Good luck Nikki.

Oh, I'm so excited for you guys! I hope that the twins will hang in there one more week and that you will be happy and comfortable in the hospital. I can't imagine how boring it would get in there. At least you have internet access!

You can do it, Nikki! Keep those legs crossed! Only a little while longer.

I'm so glad they gave you the steroid shot. It makes such a huge difference. I really think that our hospital stay was so long because we didn't get the benefit of the shot. All the babies I saw that had received the steroid did just fine and were home long before we were.
Good luck and hang in there!!

Good luck, Nikki! And if you or Danny need anything, let me know. I'll be around until Fri when I leave for a week. Maybe when I get back, I'll get to see some pics of your babies...:-)

I am a friend of Erin's. I am really enjoying your blog, especially all your pregnancy posts! I had my monochorionic diamniotic twin boys at 34 weeks and 1 day. When they were born, they weighed 4 pounds 10 ounces, and 5 pounds 5 ounces. They are now 16 months old, and they just hit 20 pounds. Good luck with the coming days and weeks. And get your sleep. You're gonna need it!

Just recently I explained to my 6 year old nephew and 8 year old niece why my almost-3 year old nephew (heart transplant patient) had to be on steroids. They couldn't figure out how steroids could be good in one case and bad in another. It was one of the more hilarious conversations I've had. Good luck and keep cookin', We'll keep praying! And if any nurse gives you a bad look for wanting more food, tell them, "Hey, YOU try being on bed rest, with two little babies sucking up all your energy, and then tell me you're not hungry!" But say it nicer than that. :D

Oh yes, and my suggestions for blog-names is that Baby A can be "Alpha" and Baby B can be "Bravo."
