Thoughts from a seriously pregnant sleep-deprived woman

Today I ratted out my neighbor's dog to the housing department. I feel slightly guilty like I should've gone over there myself and asked them about their dog. But the very thought of walking outdoors in 75 degree heat with 75% humidity gives me swollen feet. And I swear it's hotter than that. It's too hot to leave the windows and doors closed considering we do not have AC. My thermostat on my living room wall says 80 degrees in here. But anyways . . . that dog barks constantly. I know it has some kind of doggie door or they just leave the backdoor open for it to go in and out. What I don't understand is why it doesn't just go inside or why they don't hear it barking NONSTOP and find out what's wrong or quiet it.

Is it possible your dog needs some fresh water? Does your dog need some of your attention? Do you realize it's nap time?! Are you even home?!! Do you realize you HAVE A DOG?!!!

Believe me, I considered putting the sprayer nozzle on the hose and shooting it through the holes in the fence at the dog. But I did not.

7/17/09 So, the housing office sent a nice calm reminder to the neighbors about not having their dog bark constantly. But that was about daytime constant barking.

But tonight the dog has been barking nonstop since 9:07 p.m. It is 11:29 p.m. Grrr. Danny wants me to bake cookies so when he goes over to talk to them tomorrow it will go smooth. I hope so. I hope it will go smooth considering my ankles will cankle-up and my feet will swell two or three sizes baking those cookies. Read Danny's thoughts here.

I like the hose idea - you should do it! Barking dogs are so annoying!

I have a friend whose neighbor dog annoyed her so much that she actually waited until midnight, jumped over the backyard fence into her neighbor's backyard, hauled the dog back over the fence into her yard, loaded it into her truck and "took it for a ride". She lived in a gated community, so chances of the dog finding its way home were slim. Sad, yes, however desperate times call for desperate measures...

You should have done the hose...it probably would have liked it!
By the way, what did the housing department do?
I'm also enjoying the vent about the heat after all those times reading about how cold you were. :)

p.s. You look amazing! i wish I looked as good as you when I am pg...and you have TWO babies inside!

You and Toby should start a club. Toby has "taken care of" several dogs in our area. I think you did the right thing. Nothing is more annoying than a dog waking you up day or night.

I'm definitely a dog person, but barking can sure drive a person nuts! I'm a fan of dogs that are sweet and not the loud type. Good thing my dog growing up only barked at the UPS man. :)

When Deb's big dog took to barking at night we didn't waste any time purchasing a special collar that gives the dog a "zap" when it barks...it really worked pretty good! (Must follow instructions and not leave on dog too long at a time) You might want to let your neighbors know about the collars - even Walmart carries them...yes, they are expensive, but your neighbor might think it a better alternative than the possibility of doggie kidnapping or endangerment, or very unhappy neighbors.
