WFMW Peanut Butter jar uses

At our base commissary, the 18 oz. Jif peanut butter is usually the cheapest per ounce. So that is the size we have always bought while living here.

This little jar is so handy for holding crayons after the crayon box won't hold the shape anymore.

It's just the right size for a bank- and the bonus is it's see-through and motivating to see all the pennies saved.

You can make "I spy" kits with them and super glue the lid shut.

Store honey. This Fall we bought raw local honey in bulk (150 lbs.) and I've found that these are better for refilling versus our old honey bottle and bear- because they have foil on them and can't go in the microwave. Here in the Frozen North, the honey is constantly thickened to the point of not being able to squeeze the honey bottle/bear. So, we use the cleaned out peanut butter jars and can microwave if we want, or just spoon out the right amount. VERY convenient.

Store stickers and other little odds and ends that five year old girls love to collect.

Store a comb and a package of ponytail holders or scrunchies.

I'm in love with these handy little jars. They definitely work for me. For a myriad of good ideas, visit the Works for Me Wednesday carnival at http://www.rocksinmydryer.net/

Thanks for stopping by!

Love it! My mom just made an "I spy" for my two year old and he's crazy about it. Also I followed your links to your all out Valentine WFMW- totally reminds me of my childhood. We were all about themed dinners and treasure hunts and making the most out of every holiday on about two bucks. I'm so looking forward to doing this for my two little ones this year. I really enjoy your writing style- I'll be back- thanks!

Great ideas! I especially like the one about using it for honey. It's so much easier if you can just spoon it out!

We can only get salt in bags here and we use our PB jars to store the salt in. Much more convenient when cooking too, each to get the spoon in.
Corn Meal is also only sold in bags, and that jar does a good job on that too.
No sugar though. Too many nasty creatures just itching for a chance at my sugar. :)

I really like the idea about hair ties and such. They tend to make such a mess.

Thanks for sharing your good ideas!

Thanks for all of the good ideas. We usually buy pb in that size jars and I just toss them afterwards...now I will rethink my actions!

Recycled jars are also great to give your husband to store things in the garage or workshop like nails, screws, etc.

How about as gifts? A friend of mine gave me a cookie mix gift for Christmas and instead of being in a glass jar like you normally see, she had put them in old peanut butter containers.

You could also use it to store rock salt in for your car emergency kit.

Oh! I love all your ideas! I can't wait to put some ice melt rock salt in a jar for right inside our kitchen door. That way we don't need the whole bucket and can just reach out and sprinkle a little. I'm also going to put one in each vehicle.

I owe you big time. I think you just saved my sanity. My kids' crayons are everywhere but in their bedraggled boxes. This will so solve that problem. :)

Love the idea of being able to scoop honey out by the spoonful! Thanks for the list!

That's a great idea, I would have never thought of that! Doesn't the obvious always escape us? I'm going to save the next PB jar for the billions of stickers that are floating around my house!

Oh, I always loved making the I Spy bottles. We did it with rice and then we used baby oil and water with a little food coloring, glitter, and small toys in the jar.(Glue lid) It looks cool and kids get VERY SLEEPY while playing with it! :-)

What great tips! I love to re-purpose things rather than buy new stuff :-)
