Gesundheit

Gabbers sneezed this morning and with two slugs racing down her face said, "Momma, I need a tissue." When I reached for my third tissue I realized, I have a problem with snot.

I enjoy frugal living and green living with many things: OAMC, cloth diapering, breastfeeding, homemade disinfecting wipes (thanks Connie), coupon clipping, saving cereal bags, etc. I do not buy disposable mops, one time use baby washcloths (unless they are practically free with coupons), rent shampooing machines, or enroll my children in costly daycare preschool.

But when it comes to snot, NO WAY AM I COMING NEAR IT. The very thought of snot coming through the tissue on to my hand while helping my young children blow their nose, freaks me out. So I resort to OCD mode and stack up the tissues. And not just any tissues, Kleenex brand tissues. I'm sure if they were sandpaper brand, or college-student cheapy brand tissues, I'd probably stack like 5.

Does it count that I always use a coupon when buying Kleenex tissues?

A.K.A. your OCD blogging friend

P.S. I absolutely do not judge you at all if you participate in the one-tissue clean up duty. Or in disposable mops, buying wipes, daily cooking, etc. More power to you if you have that much money or time in your day. :) I will still be your friend and we can still be blogging buddies.

P.P.S. Um... don't tell Danny. I don't think he knows of my obsession. shhh!

I'm glad we can still be friends even though I use a few if not all of the items on your list. :)

I like Kleenex, too. Use a coupon and get them on sale, and they are not too bad! I do use some of those other disposable things, too, though. :)

sooooo, handkerchiefs are probably out of the question, eh? Cause that's one of the ways I cut down on the expense of kleenex purchasing.

I'm that way about poop, for some reason. TP and diaper wipes are two things that I never skimp on.

Good, I'm glad we can still be friends. If we can be, then anyone can work it out, right? But come on, it's not like I cook everyday, we all know that frozen pizza just doesn't count.

You are allowed to be OCD about body fluids, everyone should be in my opinion. Think of what a better world it would be.

Oh man - then you'd lose it watching me with my kids. I use my fingers sometimes. :O I think my hubby rubbed off on me in that area. But really, more than having it on me (where I can run scrub my self down afterwards) I can't STAND to see snot on a kids face. It's like you said..slugs. bleck! And worse..if I'm not fast ewnough, the thought of them smearing it across their arms or elsewhere makes me gag. haha

Nikki,
Hey, thanks for your comments. As far as teaching shoe tying, let me know when you find out, cause my six year old can't tie his shoes yet, or ride a two wheeler. I feel like getting the bad mom award. Someone did tell me that if you teach them to make the one rabbit ear and then wrap the other one around twice, instead of just once, and then pull it through the hole, it will stay tied really well. But that's all the advice I have on that. That is actually our summer goal is learning to tie his shoes. Sorry I don't have anything better. Also, I wish I had more advice on the going to bed thing. We have been lucky in that area. Except since we potty trained Emma, she tries to stall so much. She gets up 7 or 8 times to "use the potty" and then just sits there and sings and reads, etc. But what are you going to do, you can't say no cause then she'll probably wet the bed just cause you told her no.
Ahh, kids. Their great aren't they? Love 'em so much!!!
Good luck
hugs and kisses

I realize this is an old post, but I had to respond! Like Susie J, we use cloth handkerchiefs. I like them for the very reason you like tripling the Kleenex--nothing leaks through! Also, I just realized that I'm lucky: my toddler enjoys wiping her own nose. It's like a little hobby for her. . . .
