warning: A VERY female post

Girl folk, I'm having issues.

I'm not very far along in this pregnancy. IF I'm pregnant I'm due around Christmas. I thought I was. Three digital home pregnancy tests say that I am-- one of which was taken yesterday. But the blood pregnancy test taken at the base clinic on Friday came back negative. The nurse told me I could come in and retake the blood test or come in and take the urine test.

I called my OB and the nurse said she'd ask someone. She came back to the phone and relayed this message from the midwife, "It's possible you didn't take the test properly," (you know, because I have yet to master the art of peeing on a stick), "or the tests might have been old." No. I read the instructions every. single. time. I follow them exact. They didn't expire until 2009. I bought them. Took them home. Kept them in a dark, cool closet. Took the first test just 6 hours later. They are digital home pregnancy tests. There was no question about faint lines or evaporation lines or anything. It said, "PREGNANT."

I'm thinking about taking all the kids with me every day to the clinic for a blood AND urine test until someone proves something about my symptoms and my home tests.

Now everyone in the world and my ward knows I'm pregnant. My period is very late. I'm ornery and exhausted and nauseas and having nightmares already. And I'm not pregnant. Or am I?

I'd go in and take the test again. Maybe your levels weren't high enough for the blood test to consider it positive on Friday. It's been nearly a week, so it should be higher now.

Ohh, crazy! That would make me nuts. You do know about the conspiracy with all things involving tri-care, don't you? It is never easy, they can take the simplest things and turn them into a great big pain in the butt! They made me take a pregnancy test when we arrived at a base about 20 weeks pregnant. Uh hellooo! No this is not a basket ball in my shirt thank you.

Interesting!! I say you ARE pregnant, and maybe they should go over THEIR instructions on their blood test...hee hee. Crazy nurses, tell them you are a professional pee on stick person. What are they thinking!! Anyways, goodluck, I'm sure all will be well.

Hmm - Christmas time would mean you are still very early. LIke somone else said, it could just be too early to register blood wise, or just too low of nu,mbers still for them to tell you that you are pregnant. However, the pee sticks have less sensitivity than doing a blood count. I would retake the blood count and ask what your levels are. There could be a chance that you WERE pregnant via pee sticks, and then by the time you got the blood sample, the embryo wasn't viable (this happened to me just before this pregnancy. Had the sticks to prove it, but the blood tests were declining from the start so I had to go in to take a few.).

But, if they didn't get their blood samples to thier lab soon enough, it could be an error in their readings for letting it sit too long. I'd definately have them do it over.

Prayers for a healthy full term pregnancy!

Crazy! I always thought you couldn't get a false positive with the home preg tests but just a false negative so for you to have 3 positive preg tests seems like a sure thing. Perhaps the clinic mixed up your blood test with someone elses?

Could an ectopic pregnancy affect things? I don't know a single thing about those but just wondered -so don't worry that you might have one. But maybe ask the clinic?

I'd definitely try again. That mystery would be driving me crazy!

Go try again. I have a friend that took a couple weeks for a home pregnancy test to show she was pregnant when she was, and then the blood test at the Dr. was negative, but then she went back a couple days later and it was definitely positive. Good luck!

I have a friend who frequently gets negative blood tests, even when she's pregnant and getting positive urine tests. Very weird phenomenomenom. (and yes, I'm aware that's spelled wrong)

go back and have them re-test until they either get a positive or figure out what's wrong.
