National Ice Cream Day

UPDATE: Actually I found out that the third Sunday in July is National Ice Cream Day. But here in Happy Valley Utah they are celebrating it today!

Today is National Ice Cream day. And the timing is just perfect with the crazy 100+ degree weather. I saw on the news last night that Utah is breaking an all time record for the hottest July ever in their recorded history-- which is since 1875.

How are you going to celebrate this National day? Yesterday we got ice cream cones at BYU at the Cougar Eat (the eatery at BYU). Pookie got mint chocolate chip ice cream, G got lime sherbet, I got peanut butter cup and Bun got Raspberry Cream Cheese ice cream. I was going to get Bun's in a cup so he could eat it with a spoon, but he wanted a cone like the big kids. When Pookie was his age, I would've never let him. The sticky and the mess would've been too much for me to think about. Bun and his Raspberry Cream Cheese ice cream were quite a site. I thought he was stained permanently. But I bought this amazing Spray n' Wash that's combined with Resolve a few days ago and it got it all out! Today the Cougar Eat ice cream place is selling cones for 50 cents in honor of National Ice Cream day.

Also on the news I saw that someone has posted the new book for Harry Potter page by page on the internet. I don't know if that's entirely true or not, but I felt so sick. I don't want to know the ending until I read the book in order. I'm not going to skip to the ending. Why would I want to ruin that? So, don't worry my four blog readers, I'm not going to spoil it for you. I also heard on the news that this book and it's publication and it's secrecy have the second best security in the world-- and that is second to the secret service for the president of the United States! I suppose J.K. Rowling can afford it.

A couple days ago I saw on the news that the weather was so hot in southern Utah that they lost power for 4 hours. And then it got so SO hot (113 degrees Fahrenheit) that people were getting in their cars to take advantage of the air conditioning. But like most people know, if you can't drive very fast, the A/C doesn't work very well. And the streets were jam-packed with people in their cars not moving very fast. So, many of them got the brilliant idea to drive to Mesquite, Nevada and get a hotel there. Mesquite took advantage of supply and demand and upped their prices from $50 a night to $400! I'm grateful it's only 105 here and not 113. That night after watching the news I dreamt that I was back in the frozen north and that it was snowing in August. Wishful thinking. Soon enough I'm sure I'll be blogging about frostbite.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for Ice Cream! I hope you are going to take advantage of the 50 cent cone. YOu are really making we want to move back to Utah, what will the squelching heat and all.

I love the creamery's ice cream cones. I'm glad you told us what each one picked...those were fun details.

I've wondered if J.K. Rowling is nervous about her book--everybody has so many expectations I've wondered if she would be nervous trying to live up to them.

I'm a skipper....I'm going to have the kids tell me what happens at the end. However, getting them to leak is sooo difficult. They tell me I have to read it to find out...same with movies.

Tell Leslie "hi" when she gets there.

Love,
Jane
