I have found a very interesting article on Associated Content written by a man named Kevin Barbieux who has been in and out of homelessness half of his adult life. In this one particular article, he points out how you can help homeless people without having to give them money and wonder where it’s going. The article is called Gift Bags for the Homeless. And you can read it by clicking here. I gave him 5 stars.
I have been pondering this since reading it. We have several little sample sizes of toothpaste from the dentist and toothbrushes. Actually we have dozens of brand-new toothbrushes because I buy them on sale or with coupons and we also get them from the dentist at our exams & cleanings every six months.
I also read about a month ago on Associated Content about a wealthy man who would buy 6 loaves of bread, a box of sandwich bags, 3 jars of peanut butter and 3 jars of jelly on Christmas Eve when he was leaving work every year. He would rush home, assemble as many sandwiches as the supplies would make, put them in individual sandwich bags and then walk the street well-known for homeless people, handing them out with well wishes until they were all gone. Then he would go over to his midnight Christmas church service and not tell anyone about it (until he was caught and interviewed of course).
So I ask, what can you do? What are some things you have done or some ideas you have? I'd love to hear your comments.
